My first job as a software engineer💻

By in life

It's been almost 2 months since I have started working as a part time software engineer at a product based start up named Ayulla. The startup is currently working on Customer Relationship Management system called Tapdesk.io. I am a part of the engineering team and work on back end mostly. Speaking more about the product I am working on it has exciting features unlike other CRMs. You can go check them out here. Working on these features gives a developer a sense of satisfaction as it feels that you are really making something very useful for the customers in the industry.

Expectations v/s Reality

Being from India, I have an exposure to some of the platforms which have internships listed that are either unpaid or very less paid. If you convert it to USD it is almost negligible. Also the amount of work is greater. Well not all platforms are the same, but most of them are. Being from a unknown(tier-3) college it becomes very difficult to get exposure to good companies despite of having the skill set required. You can go check out Joshua Fluke's YouTube to see how Indian job market for programming is exploiting programmers.

Again I am not saying all the companies/platforms are same but yes there are a lot. There are organisations which ask's the candidate to pay for internship certificates. Well this is what I have seen in my last 3 years of engineering. Of course if I was in a reputed and a known college(tier-1, tier-2) my experience might have been different.

When I joined Tapdesk the environment was completely different. The team is very nice and helpful. I interact with CTO and CEO directly. We have a common platform where the all the teams are present and anyone can interact with anyone. The interview process was pretty smooth and was related to the role that I was going to work in. They really made me feel welcomed into the team. Although the job is completely remote but we are connected very well. There is no pressure and the work is pretty chill. We have weekly meetings and we discuss about the tasks and progress. I really like working here. I can talk and suggest ideas to everyone in the team instead of just doing what I am assigned. The team itself is really very helpful and helping me learn how software projects are managed both team wise and design wise.

About Ayulla

Ayulla is a startup based in the United States. Ayulla is a Software Engineering private limited liability company driven by the unending effort to design and deploy massive software that we believe will be a major landmark in its class. At Ayulla, we design for the user and make the best effort in making technology the asset it should be. We aim to make our software not only economical and efficient but also durable, stable and affordable to our users. At the core of our business is the people who create, design, and build our technologies - Ayulla's team and community members. We strive to foster an inclusive and diverse environment that attracts, nurtures and inspires the best talents.

With all this, I am really liking my job here at Tapdesk because of all the team members, the environment and of course the product that we are building.
